A wreck abandoned on a black sand beach, a testament to the awe-inspiring beauty of Iceland. This photograph, for me, captures Iceland's captivating and otherworldly beauty. The juxtaposition of the abandoned wreckage against the ethereal landscape evokes a sense of wonder and contemplation. Yet, there is still a lot of mystery around what happened in the skies above Solheimansandur and the events that led to a plane wreck being nestled on this black sand beach, frozen in time forever.

This was the most challenging photograph I ever created. On our hike, we experienced wind that blew horizontally; the rain was beating down on us, and it was overcast and challenging because of the weather. I am still in awe of this photograph; I can't believe I could create this colour photograph, in a monotone grey pallet, in those adverse weather conditions. I love this work. It will forever be a visual journey of discovery for me because of the mystery and what I learn from art by looking at this work.

Edition and size information

Only 100 prints in various sizes and formats from limited editions will be made. So the edition size of the work is 100 prints + 5  AP (‘épreuve d'artiste’) +  2 TP (trial prints) to check colour, print quality and how ink takes to the chosen material.
